Subject Line: One Region. Many Economies. How does the Atlanta Fed impact your Community?
March 25, 2019
Dear <FIRST NAME>:
I’m pleased to share our 2018 annual report, One Region, Many Economies., which is the first part of a series that will illuminate the varying economic realities facing people in the Southeast.
Over the past year, I’ve traveled across the Sixth District—from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to the Tri-Cities, Tennessee, area, from bustling metros to smaller cities fighting for footing in a changing economy. My main takeaway: there are many economies, not just one.
These trips were essential to understanding our district. Seeing these communities firsthand gave me a perspective far more prosperous than I get from data alone. Hearing directly from people—business leaders, mayors, everyday working people—gave me a deep appreciation of how the Sixth District faces various challenges head-on.
The annual report and three subsequent special reports will paint a textured picture of how and why the work you all do in your communities is so important. It will also address why this matters to the Federal Reserve in achieving its mandate of maximizing employment: when we have as many people gainfully employed as possible, our economy is more productive, we raise the general standard of living, and we spread economic opportunity. Without equal access to opportunity, the country squanders economic potential and limits the possibilities of our people.
I invite you to explore the report, and if you’re so inclined, forward this email to a friend.
Sincerely,
