OETA, Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma to Host Hamilton’s America Screening

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA), along with Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, will host a special preview screening of the upcoming PBS documentary Hamilton’s America Monday, Oct.17 in Oklahoma City. Tickets to this free event are available via a ticket lottery, which is open to the public now through 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7 at OETA.tv/Hamilton . All registrants will be notified between Oct. 8-10.

Doors for the event open at 6 p.m. at Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, 1727 NW 16th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73106 . The screening begins promptly at 7 p.m. Attendees have the opportunity to win door prizes, as well as, a prize pack featuring two tickets to a 2017 Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma production, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton: The Revolution , Ron Chernow’s biography Alexander Hamilton and other prizes from PBS.

The screening includes a 30-minute preview of the behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of the hit Broadway musical. The documentary combines interviews with experts and prominent personalities, new footage of the production in New York, and castled expeditions to DC, Philadelphia, and New York. The full 90-minute program kicks off the 2016 PBS Arts Fall Festival, hosted by Miranda, Friday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. on OETAHD.

The screening event also includes a look at the 2016 PBS Arts Fall Festival: Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater from Lincoln Center at the Movies , “Gypsy” from Great Performances , Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs, Lang Lang’s “New York Rhapsody” from Live from Lincoln Center and “Shakespeare Live!” from the Royal Shakespeare Company from Great Performances.
